Three case studies, published from December 2007 to February 2008, demonstrate the effectiveness of Parafricta in reducing tissue damage.

Feedback from nurses and users are as follows:

 Jane Edwards, a clinical nurse specialising in tissue viability at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre NHS Trust, stated: "The fabric reduces friction and shear forces and allows heel and sacrum dressings to stay in place for longer.  This reduces dressing changes and allows for effective wound management.  The bootees were found to keep heel dressings in place on immobile patients and allowed the dressing to be changed when appropriate and not because it had rucked up and/or come off.  I believe this fabric to be a breakthrough in the prevention of skin breakdown."

Dear Mr Sampson,

We purchased our first Parafricta items last year, and have just ordered more.

I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know that these products have made a significant difference to our most frail and vulnerable residents, in terms of protecting skin integrity and avoiding bedsores. The product is not only comfortable, non-clinical in appearance and hard-wearing, but extremely effective at protecting the skin from breakdown. As all of our residents have either a dementing illness or enduring mental health problems, as well as often complex physical problems, finding products that are effective, lasting and clear value for money can be problematic.

We have now incorporated the use of Parafricta into our formal risk assessment / care planning processes and have had no incidences of bedsores since. I look forward to the development of an even greater range to choose from!
