Treating Pressure Sores with Parafricta®

Pressure sores, also more commonly known as bedsores or pressure ulcers, are areas of damaged skin and tissue. They develop when pressure cuts off the blood supply, usually when someone sits or lies in one position for too long, and are a complication of many illnesses or conditions where someone is immobile for too long.

Medically, pressure sores develop from frictional shearing of compromised skin in static patients. The key nursing goal identified by EPUAP (European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Board) in this area was to "protect against the adverse effects of external mechanical forces: pressure, friction and shear on skin". Parafricta® products help with this.

System for aiding night-time movement of patients with Neurological conditions

New Low Friction Mobility Assist Sheet

A new type of specialist sheet, designed to aid mobility for people in their bed at night, is now available.

Patients with neurological conditions, such as Parkinson's, Huntingdon's and MND, have difficulty moving at night which could lead to them feeling cold and reduce their ability to get out of bed. The introduction of low-friction materials helps ease the movement of the body across the horizontal surface of the bed.
